PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Supervised Internship at Murphy Commons Apartments:
Murphy Commons Apartments is a low-income housing development in Chico. Every semester, interns from Chico State designed and implemented a weekly after school program designed to expose school age children to university life through guest speakers, homework help, and educational curriculum. Curriculum was implemented through a range of modalities including games, crafts, science experiments, and homework help.

Supervised Practicum at the Associated Students Child Development Lab:
Gained proficiency in using Desired Results Developmental Profile 2015 (DRDP-15) and in anecdotal note taking in a preschool setting. Acquired teaching skills including facilitating circle time, transitions, and conflict negotiation among preschool children. Implemented curriculum based on children’s needs and expressed interests. Balanced classroom responsibilities with children’s needs. Developed anecdotal note-taking skills

Supervised Fieldwork at Mi Escuelita Maya:
Participated in a community preschool (ages 2.9- 5) for a total of 33 hours. Practiced “Observe, reflect, respond” methods of field data collection and curriculum implementation. Developed preschool curriculum responses based on developmentally appropriate practice standards. Gained introductory experience working with the DRDP-15.

Supervised Fieldwork at Citrus Elementary School:
Aided in resource classroom (K-6). Corrected and provided feedback for 3rd, 4th, and 6th grade students in math work. Built 3rd grade students’ reading comprehension by asking content related questions.

Employee at Wizard Manufacturing Inc:
Worked stuffing wire for walnut huller brushes and completed other miscellaneous tasks. Organized yard by disassembling pallets and extracted good lumber for reuse. Collected and disposed of leaves and other yard refuse including tree branches and bush clippings.

Children’s Ministry Assistant at Life Pointe Church:
Supported Director in daily and weekly duties. Directed, and organized over 20 volunteers for ages 0-5 classes. Created spreadsheets, calendars, and child registration tools using Microsoft Word. Prepared weekly curriculum for ages 2- 5 classrooms. Prepared and delivered five talks for Vacation Bible School (K- 5th).

Cashier and Produce Clerk at Lorenzo’s Market:
Balanced responsibilities between two departments (produce and cashiering) during one shift. Managed eight hours of shift time independently to complete required tasks. Tasks included receiving and organizing produce order, stocking, cleaning, communicating with management about item pricing, placing daily order by telephone, assigning night shift’s task, and assisting the warehouse department as needed. Assisted customers through cashiering, bagging, carry-out service, and price checking.
